October Board Meeting at the City Golf Club
6:00 PMEach year coaches complete a mid-season and end of season player assessments to provide feedback to players about their strengths and areas for further improvement. The end of season coach assessment is also used as the basis for determining which players will automatically be retained for the following year and which players will need to attend trials and compete for their spot in a team.
The club aims to retain approximately 80% of players each year, demonstrating a firm commitment to the long-term development of players. At the same time however, the club recognises that new players must also be afforded the opportunity to be selected.
Current SWQ Thunder FC players that are automatically retained will receive a player offer through Majestri. Current SWQ Thunder FC players who are not automatically retained for the following year are invited and encouraged to attend trials.
Coaches, managers, physios/sports trainers, Board members and volunteers working with children must register in Squadi each season using the instructions below.
Players/parents are required to pay club registration fees to secure their place in a team. Players can either:
Download a copy of the 2027 Player Scholarship program guide. Applications for scholarships are due to be submitted to registrar@swqthunder.com by 5:00pm on Friday 30 October 2026.
Individual players or families are able to arrange business sponsors to assist with the covering the cost of club registration fees. Business sponsors pay a small fee to the club for advertising in addition to the cost of the players registration fees.
The club provides a letter of introduction and an agreement form for businesses to complete to confirm their sponsorship. Download the Individual Player Business Sponsorship package for further information.
Parents are encouraged to access the Queensland Governments FairPlay Vouchers to help pay for player registrations for seasons registration fees and coaching programs.
All information you need can be accessed on the Queensland Governments FairPlay website, including eligibility criteria and opening and closing dates.
Once you apply for and receive a voucher, you can use it to pay an outstanding invoice for player registration for sporting teams and programs.
