Retention and Player Offers

Each year coaches complete a mid-season and end of season player assessments to provide feedback to players about their strengths and areas for further improvement.  The end of season coach assessment is also used as the basis for determining which players will automatically be retained for the following year and which players will need to attend trials and compete for their spot in a team.

The club aims to retain approximately 80% of players each year, demonstrating a firm commitment to the long-term development of players.   At the same time however, the club recognises that new players must also be afforded the opportunity to be selected.

Current SWQ Thunder FC players that are automatically retained will receive a player offer through Majestri. Current SWQ Thunder FC players who are not automatically retained for the following year are invited and encouraged to attend trials. participate in Thunder programs are invited to attend trials.

There are several important changes to the 2025 registration process. Starting this season, Football Queensland (FQ) and Football Australia (FA) have introduced a two-step registration process that requires registration and payments across their two platforms. These two registrations are in addition to the club's Majestri registration process.

Football Queensland (FQ) and Football Australia (FA) fees are NOT included in our club's 2025 fees. These fees are listed below.

Category Football Queensland
(Squadi)
Football Australia
(LetsPlayFootball)
Total
MiniRoos (U6-U11)$50$15 $65

    Registration Fee Value for Money

Registration fees provide the club with the ability to provide a high-quality football experience for players, families, officials and spectators.  Registration fees represent excellent value for money when you consider the length of the season, the frequency of training and matches and the obvious and not so obvious items that registration fees cover.

The table below outlines these value-for-money inclusions.

    Payment Methods

Players/parents are required to pay club registration fees to secure their place in a team.  Players can either:

    • Pay club registration fees up front and in full at time of accepting a player offer; OR
    • Pay the deposit and set up a payment plan through Majestri for the remainder of player registration fees

Failure to pay in full or set up a payment plan will mean that your player has not yet accepted their place in a team and their place may be offered to a shadow player.

    PAYMENT PLANS
Parents can set up a payment plans for player registration fees through Majestri.  A 20% up-front non-refundable deposit payment is required when setting up a payment plan. The remaining amount can be paid off on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis by 31st May 2025.

Parents are charged $0.99 by Majestri for each direct debit payment made and club is also charged a percentage of the value of each payment. To reduce costs, the club prefers that parents make payment in full wherever possible.

Majestri payment plans are the only payment plans accepted by the club. The club does not accept regular scheduled payments direct from parents’ bank accounts as this create significant additional workload for our (volunteer) Treasurer to keep track of these commitments and payments.

Clothing cannot be included in payment plans and must be paid in full before clothing will be issued to players.

    FINANCIAL DIFFICULTIES
Parents experiencing financial difficulties should email registrar@swqthunder.com to outline your circumstances and request an extension to pay your deposit or alternative payment arrangements. This is critical to secure your child’s place in team.

Families/players who are experiencing financial difficulties may also apply for a player scholarship or arrange a business sponsorshipby the offer expiry date to secure their place in the team,

    Compulsory Club Clothing

All players are required to purchase and wear SWQ Thunder FC Clothing to all training sessions and games.

The table below shows the compulsory clothing items required by players of each team.  Optional clothing items can also be purchased.

New players to the club must purchase all compulsory clothing items. This can be done by purchasing all items in a bundle from the Online Shop during the registration process

Returning players only need to purchase the clothing items that they require to supplement their existing club clothing. Players should plan well in advance for clothing purchases, particularly winter clothing, spare clothing and larger sizes for growing young bodies.  The club carries limited stock and ordering takes time for production, delivery and distribution.

The club generally advertises order windows to minimise the number of orders that the club is placing with our clothing partner KAPPA.

All clothing purchases must be paid for in full and are not able to be included in payment plans. Clothing items will not be distributed until they are paid for in full.

KAPPA sizing chartis provided for all KAPPA clothing to assist players/parents to order the correct sizes.

Parents or players can email clothing@swqthunder.com if you require any assistance with clothing purchases.
